Religious Education (PREP) 2018-19
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me." (Matthew 19:14)
The Parish of Saint Michael the Archangel Religious Education Program (PREP) is a continuing journey of faith for school-age children. In this program, young parishioners experience the rich traditions of our Catholic faith. One of our main objectives is to teach the students the basic principles of the Catholic Faith. We strive to pass on doctrine and Catholic traditions, build community, and prepare the students for the lives and ministry that their Baptism declares. We hope to motivate all students and their families to a life of faithfulness and action. Supported by faith-filled parents, dedicated volunteer catechists, as well as religious sisters, priests, and deacons. our children enjoy learning and growing to appreciate the gifts of their Catholic faith.
If you need to enroll a child in the program, the Parish of Saint Michael the Archangel offers two (2) options: Sunday morning classes and home schooling. We meet throughout the academic year on Sunday mornings in Saint Michael the Archangel Regional School (51 W North St, Clayton). Classes run from 9:00 until 10:15a. Classes generally run from September until May. We offer classes for grades Pre-K3 through 8th. In exceptional circumstances, we also have a home-schooling program where you can work at your own pace. We supply the class materials and a due date. You find the time to teach your child and complete the program at home to get credit for the year. Continuation in the home-school program is dependent upon compliance with the program's policies the previous year.
We are now accepting PREP registration for the 2018-2019 academic school year. You can find forms in the back of both churches, at the Rectory Office, or by clicking the links below. You may place the registration forms in the collection basket at any Mass (in an envelope clearly marked "PREP" or "Religious Education"), place them in the mail, or bring them to the Rectory Office during the normal business hours. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Gina Wheeler, DRE, at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Sacramental Preparation (Reconciliation, First Eucharist, Confirmation)
The preparation for all Sacraments is done through the Parish. We hold separate classes during the school year for the Sacraments. All students enrolled in Catholic schools and in PREP need to attend these classes and do so together. This is a Diocesan requirement. The Diocese also requires that all those preparing for the Sacraments need two (2) years of proximate education to be eligible to receive the Sacraments [i.e. Those preparing for Reconciliation and First Eucharist need to be in a religious education program (Catholic school or PREP) for 1st and 2nd grade. Those preparing for Confirmation need to minimally be in Catholic school or PREP for 7th and 8th grade.]
We understand that there are situations that occasionally arise and will discuss them, if needed. Please contact the Director of the Program to arrange a conference with Father.
